About AIGPC

The AI Governance Practice Centre (AIGPC) is a new initiative proposed for formal establishment since 2025, representing the strategic evolution and international expansion of the existing AI Governance Center (AIGC),

which was established in 2021 under
the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA).

OBJECTIVES

1

Translating Ethical Principles into Practice: Bridge the gap between high-level ethical frameworks and practical implementation through policy guidance, governance toolkits, and pilot initiatives.

2

Promoting Context-Sensitive Governance: Support ASEAN and other developing Member States in designing AI governance frameworks that reflect local socio-economic and cultural contexts while upholding global ethical standards.

3

Fostering Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a neutral regional platform that facilitates cooperation among governments, academia, industry, and civil society to co-develop balanced and effective AI governance models.

4

Enhancing Future Readiness: Build foresight and capacity to help nations anticipate AI-driven transformations and proactively shape digital futures that uphold human rights and equity.

Structure

The AIGPC operates under a dual-board governance structure consisting of a Supervisory Board and a Governing Board, ensuring transparency, accountability, and strategic oversight. The Centre is led by a Director, who is responsible for the overall management and implementation of the Centre’s mandate and activities in alignment with its four key functional areas
